Specialist Note:
An icon of postwar French design, the Lalique “Cactus” table exemplifies the house’s mastery of sculptural crystal. Designed by Marc Lalique in 1951, the piece features a luminous base of overlapping cactus leaves, each hand-finished to capture the fluid interplay of light, texture, and form. At once decorative and architectural, the table embodies the elegance and innovation that define Lalique’s transition from Art Deco brilliance to mid-century modern refinement.
Overall, in good condition. The beveled glass tabletop measures approximately 47 inches in diameter.(Please note: the photo shows the base previously fitted with a slightly larger top.)The sculptural base is in very good condition with the following notes:• Light, expected surface scratches to the bottom from normal use• One “cactus leaf” element has a small repair to a bead on the outer edge (a broken bead has been glued back)• All original screws are present, clean, and free of rust• Each component is properly markedDue to the delicate nature of the design, the base disassembles into smaller components for safe handling and shipping.
